* Sex, materialism, and the corporate industrial takeover of everything, including sex.
I see lots of advertisements. The products are all, bigger, faster, last longer, look better, prestige, more for your money and the all-important “it’s convenient”. Cars, food, clothing, hair dye, toothpaste, and sex. They seem to all be the same.
Think about it, we are told we need to look perfect and they will sell us what we need to do that. We try to educate ourselves in the proper mechanics and techniques. Yes they will sell us books, magazines, and videos for that as well. And just in case that is not enough, we can always buy battery operated devises, mechanical implants, or even a little pill to make it work even better. Make sure you get lots of practice, that will help as well. Work on that technique, work hard on the mechanics of it all.
What a bunch of pathetic idiots we all seem to be. The mechanics of sex are so simple that a dog is an expert before he is 2 years old. Us ultra intelligent modern people, we think we can’t handle the mechanics of it all. All of us are born to be good at sex; it’s not a complicated thing. If you can just talk to your partner, you’re an expert inside of a week. So you're good at sex, big deal it takes the intelligence of a rat to have sex.
But the one thing that everyone seems to have a problem with is keeping a relationship alive. That requires intelligence, selflessness, and love. Even God has trouble keeping a good relationship with his own. Relationships are not even easy for God, he had a son die over that.
I guess there is no money in two people developing a real and long lasting relationship. So we as a culture, give developing a good relationships no attention at all. And the funny thing is that true sexual gratification is not linked to athletics. No it’s linked to love, communication and the closeness of the relationship. This is something that practice not only doesn’t help, but hurts. The more partners you have, the less able you are to totally commit to only one of them. It becomes harder to completely trust that one, to become one with another human. When you been with so many, most of whom were deserving of no trust at all. Sad most spend so much time doing exactly the opposite of what they should be doing, if they honestly are looking for good sex.
Maybe someone will find a way to sell fast, drive through sex. Just try imagining the $1.00 menu? Something tells me that the results would be the same as with fast food. It will be cheep, it will be fast, you will not enjoy it that much, and it may kill you in the end.
*Some of you have seen this one before. I 'm still cleaning this place of mine, so this entry is not a new one. Not that many of you read it the first time, maybe 2 or 3 of you.
This is my first time reading it and I must say that I agree 100%!
I agree. I don't think sex is about going through as many people as possible... but rather developing a loving relationship with one person at one time.
Of course, I don't think it's impossible to have this happen more than once in a lifetime.
Drive thru sex huh? *Enters KFC* May I have a large slurpy and breasts, to go? *Please move along to the window*
I feel so bad writing that ^.
Anyways, I think that sex is the most ancient business ever and the most dangerous. Think about the stds! AHHH!!! It will kill you slowly like super fries and triple hamburger!
@SerenaDante - No it's not and I thank God for that.
@SerenaDante - Again, we agree on something! It's a miracle ^^
when fences were starting to be ripped down many Christians sounded the alarm but very few people listened, The strength of a society has always rested on the strength of our family's. Before any more fences get destroyed let us first look at why they were built it the first place,
No one would in their right mind walk up to and blow up a dam, why? obviously because of all the ramifications of doing so.
I'm glad you reposted this. The $1 menu idea was inspired!
Hmm. You know I love you and I love your posts. But there's just one little thing I disagree with there (and it wasn't the main point at all).
The idea that "Even God has trouble keeping a good relationship with his own. Relationships are not even easy for God, he had a son die over that." You made it sound like God is somehow capable of messing up and needed to fix his big mess up by having Jesus die. I don't think that was it at all...it was all part of His Divine Plan. God is not limited by easy or hard, or fear of intimacy or anything like our human relationships are. He is perfect. I know that you know this...I just think maybe the way you worded it came across a bit off.
@NightCometh - Thats ok. I wasn't really trying to be theologically sound. Just pointing out that a relationship with someone possessing a free will, is not a given thing.
Wow, you make some excellent points here. Makes some of us look really foolish for bragging over our sexual prowess. "it takes the intelligence of a rat to have sex." Hahahaha. =D Well, well played.
It's unfortunate more people don't realize the worth in one strong relationship. Cheap thrills and more bang for the buck only leave you with way more baggage than you can keep up with...and bad gas.
all the casual sex i had often left me emptier than before. and advertising is so trashy at times.
Kosher Sex by Roshi - how we're supposed to be totally erotic, but with one person, because that just makes it SO much better. :)
Good entry. I never understood why people are so preoccupied with sex when relationships are that much more important and difficult to maintain. Good sex is not hard to find--quality people and relationships are.
I agree with this 100%
It's funny that I read this after seeing another one of those KY lotion commercials...I think just being with my future husband would make the act of sex so much better, regardless of how good the "mechanics" are.
Developing a true relationship with ANYONE is the hardest one can do. Perhaps is fear of getting hurt that makes some of us go just for the physical satisfaction. Some enjoy it; others don't. In the end, though, some come to realize it's just an empty existence that won't last forever.
I enjoyed reading your points on this including the analogy of God and relationship.
I liked this.
bbbbbad
It's a great post. The comments are good too - well, with the exception of one. This is the type of mature, thoughtful article that should be in the top ten or better. I don't need to say any more. You've written a great article and it will stand on its own merit. It is nice to see someone with morals and a sense of decency though. People like you are rare.
Cheers, Steve T
Completely agree.
@WondersCafe - i'd prefer the fries and burger and dealing with the cholesterol over getting crabs down there
Too true.
All the sex in advertising is more to do with advertising and capitalism than materialism. And it works so well on us mainly because we are so sexually repressed and puritanical. In countries where they have nude beaches do you think people subscribe to sports illustrated for the girls in bikinis? Do you think they even care?
I agree that having many partners probably diminishes the specialness of sex, but I don't agree with talking down to people who may feel differently. I disagree with people who abstain until marriage or married couples who have open relationships, but I would never call them perverts or sneer at them for it or tell them there's something wrong with them. They're not hurting anyone, so it's none of my business what they get up to.
@agnophilo - And capitalism with out materialism would sell only necessities. As to using sex to sell and even selling sex itself, it is just as rampant in Europe as anywhere else.
I doubt it's as rampant everywhere as it is here. Like I said, I can't imagine a lot of T and A all over the place in countries where 16 year olds can go to nude beaches and nobody cares.
