Just a girl. I am a contrary one, but beyond that I am not so unusual, if that is unusual at all. I grew up on a farm, only 35 miles outside of Seattle, closer to Tacoma. Tacoma is a city I lived in for a while. I am now back at the farm, having fully succeeded in not following any of my parent’s advice. Sadly it was all very good advice I didn’t follow. So here I am, eating crow. Were did that saying “eating crow” come from?

All Atheists Are Stupid

I do not believe that, but I do see a lot of faiths and philosophies regularly ridiculed. Mormons and Catholics come to mind

My question is. What other religions and philosophies is it ok to ridicule?

Evangelicals?

Pagans?

Atheists?

Buddhists?

Muslims?

Hindus?

Vegans?  . . . . I like my Vegans roasted.

hahah, I don't think vegan is a religion

I think athiests say that's not a religion either, doesn't seem like a religion to me.

have I left the point?

OK - people can be dumb EVERYWHERE people of all views can be dumb.

I don't think it's cool to ridicule people solely based on their religious views.  It's my one beef with Bill Meher, but he's funny enough that I ignore it when he does that.

whoa, I said beef.

this blog is more loaded then it appeared, I have to keep editing this!

It's not cool to ridicule people in general SOLELY FOR THE SAKE of it.  Criticizing something about something that seems to be a tenant of the religion, that's different, just ridiculing.

@Colorsofthenight - OK man. Good you are on your toes today.  I totally missed that, I'm not that great of reader on certain days.

@Colorsofthenight - I promise one thing. If there is a debate abuot whether or not 'atheist' is a philosophy I will be absent from the class.

@DivaJyoti - it's cool.  I couldn't read for three months and still have a hard time with comprehension sometimes thanks to my friend schizo.  Everyone is like, "people with schizophrenia are like Nash," but the truth is that most of us are speshal.  In the last group home I was in, I don't think they would have been able to measure the other schizophrenic's IQs.  That's why our average is a 94.  I still have a 116 IQ, but I have "issues," especially with memory.

@DivaJyoti - Veganism is a philosophy not a diet and atheism is one as well. And to say more on it many atheists are very religious about it. They have

a creation story

creeds

revival meetings

regular services and meetings

Childhood indoctrination into the faith

And so much more than makes them a religion and the courts have ruled on it as well

atheism is a religion in the eyes of the court

@DivaJyoti - SO it is fine to ridicule the tenets of any faith? just not the people themselves?

@trunthepaige - I didn't mean for my sentence to fall off so vaguely...just ridiculing, I see no point in it at all.  sorry about that.

now that doesn't mean that you don't occasionally read something political of mine and see it as antagonistic and etc

just ridiculing sheerly for the sake of that, I see no point in it, that's what Trolls do

@trunthepaige - yes, you're buddy already got me straightened out, LOL!

I'm not getting in an athiest debate EVER AGAIN!  LOL most pointless thing in the world for me to do being neither atheist nor christian.

if anyone tried to take away the rights of the other in a major, country changing way, then I'd get involved, I try to keep most of my debating in the domain of the pragmatic versus the philosophical.  you know, being a social advocate, I'm not interested in philosophical debates per se, perhaps unless it's political philosophy, then that's rare

Roasted Vegans. Yum!

I like to ridicule everyone equally. Oh, except for Comeshereanyway. She gets special attention for being so special and doing such a bad impersonation of Curtis not being Denise but sometimes Charlie.

in my opinion, absolutely nothing is sacred.  but you should be able to ridicule someone without lying about them.

@flapper_femme_fatale - I consider ridicule to the weapon of the person with the weakest argument. Though it can be tempting when someone is being a bone head. Or when turning the basis of their own ridicule back at them

@trunthepaige - I do.  I agree!  unless part of the religion is "human sacrifice" or something like that, and if it's people like that, ridiculing won't work, they have to be literally stopped.

@flapper_femme_fatale - In a certain spirit, I agree, like if you're just fucking with them a little, joking around in a way that it's not demonizing, say like here's a really iffy example. @SKANLYN - my initial impulse to his comment was to laugh, but a while back my initial impulse to other things might have been to laugh, initial impulses can't be trusted, this is profiling and potentially very dangerous.  then another matter gets factored in, namely consider the source.

In general ridiculing a person for their beliefs, I see no point in it, unless they refuse to believe in well established scientific facts, in which case ridiculing them is very tempting, but unless you're getting paid to be funny and you actually ARE funny (for example bill maher) - so...

If Bill Meher says something hilarious about people who refuse to believe in verified scientific reality, he's ridiculing to amuse people and it's working, because, well?  It's science.

What I'm agreeing with this blogger about is RELIGIOUS things which can not be proven or disproven (and I don't care what the atheist argument on this would be) religious views should be left alone in general (not ridiculing JUST to ridicule) and why ridicule vegans and so forth.

Let me just say that ridiculing won't change anyone.  When meher ridicules believers, I don't find him amusing.  When he ridicules people who try to say reality isn't real, as in science? He's funny.

meh, paige I'm starting to hate this blog hahahahahah

@SKANLYN - @FrenzElectric - So far the Moslems have been serious to injure those who mock them. The Tit for tat comes when you ridicule things. I've noticed that Skanlyn is more troll than competent blogger but then again I'm biased because I don't subscribe to most what he mentions.
