Evil Buddhists!
I have had it, I’m going to start bashing Buddhists. I think I am going to do the straw man thing. I will take a few Hollywood morons that claim Buddhism as their faith, and start bashing the whole faith based on their actions. “Did you know that a lot of Buddhists like taking gerbils up the anus?” “And have you ever noticed that if you want to molest childern, the nations were you can do that (at a very reasonable price) are all primarily Buddhist nations? And that Dolly-Lama guy strikes me as a bit weird.
I wonder if I would get featured writing stuff like that. Besides Christianity, being insulted and stereotyped on featured in the past, I wonder if other faiths have been bashed on the front page? I think Islam may have been, but I am not sure about that? Atheism sure has had a pass on featured content. And it is full of things to pick on.It’s not hard to bash a faith, it just takes some pure straw man bullshit. No need to be well written, a bunch of convoluted bs, that refuses to stand behind it own point works. There have been a few like that on that front page. But I suppose if you let all the faiths get bashed (or none) it would all be all well and good.
I would like to see a little atheist bashing make featured content. I just read some moron call the head guys at xanga a “Christian coven” so John certainly would love to put some atheist bashing on the front page, being as he is such a strong fundamentalist Christian and all. (Some people know why that is funny). I would like to break out the stereotypes, build up a straw man and then tear it down. Lets say they are all little, vindictive, bitter shitheads. Or that Stalin was a typical atheist. Would you feature that? No better yet, lets stick with picking on that evil theocracy. I hear (from the ignorant) that Christians want to turn the USA into a theocracy. Funny but a man who really does want to create a theocracy in Tibet, is never bashed at all is he? That is not true, those evil atheistic Chinese Communists, bash the hell out of him. But they are preventing a theocracy. You would think everyone would love the Chinese for preventing a theocracy. But I see “Free Tibet” bumper stickers all over the place. .Anyway do you think it is time we all started doing some Buddhist bashing?
That is sort of a redo of one I did a few years ago. It is Saturday what do you expect out of me?

no bashing anyone. i swear, one day an alien ship is going to land and people will worship THAT as god. worship a cat, worship a rock, whatever. we need to rise above the bashing parties and not in self righteousness either but in genuine care for those who believe differently. hey, in THEIR eyes, WE are the ones mistaken or lost. there is a difference between tolerance and acceptance.
Everybody, including the West, hates the West – and Christianity is associated with the West so it’s hated. Somehow people have gotten the stupid idea that nitpicking about what’s wrong in the West is better than celebrating what’s right – and in doing so they’ve forsaken a proud and strong heritage. If I were to get pissy about religions I’d suggest Hinduism because it’s fond of killing Christians and/or burning down their homes.
Sure, only the extremists do that but the rank and file refuse to prevent it or prosecute the offenders so they’re just as guilty.
which featured post bashed christianity? I don’t read featured content so I missed it.
Christians do seem to be the favorite target for athiests. I have studied Buddhism, and even got the chance to sit and talk with a few Buddhist Monks. It was very enlightening.
@Simbathe2nd - They were few of them less that 2 years ago. Have there been any since? I don’t know
you could do a post calling humanism a religion and just watch people come out of the wood work! On another topic I trust you understood I meant yes this morning. I just reread that reply.
I wish people just wouldn’t bash ANY religion or ANY belief. Why can’t everyone just follow their faith while being left alone?

Bashing just makes people look bad. One is enough to make all look evil. In other terms: bashing= you’ll look pathetic and it’s rutheless. :
FREE THE SCARECROW!
what do you expect out of me?
A cold beer and foot rub :- D
hey, may as well aim high -2000 plus miles ~ the shot’s gonna drop alot
You may want to note that Athiests may not pick on Budhism very often because it’s not exactly a thiest religion. It’s much more of a metaphysical post-modern philosophy than a religion even–at least the most widespread and recognized sects. Budhists are difficult targets because they don’t have any of the problems that thiestic faiths do.
There are Athiests that have evolved beyond superstition and social control and can rationally support these progressions, and then there are those who simply treat anything metaphysical like Frankenstein treats a lit torch. I think both beligerant thiests and non should be taking notes from the Budhists. They figured out things a long time ago.

@Magniloquentia - Admittedly it is very hard to actually get mad at a practicing Buddhists. Though one of atheisms biggest writers claims to be a Buddhists. And he really is a major judgmental jerk of the worst sort. So me thinks he is not all that devout a Buddhists.
Buddhism’s more a philosophy than a religion; I should know, I am Bruddhist. In theory, anyway.
Nah, leave the Buddhists alone. As long as folks are attacking us Christians they’re leaving others alone. We just need to make sure it’s really Jesus who ticks them off, and not us being jerks.
@Kestryl - I would not call a belief in reincarnation and the possibility of becoming adevas not believing in a higher power. No it is very much a religion no less so than Christianity.
@Such_Were_You - I can only hope it was obvious that I was not picking on Buddhists. The intention was to pick on those who like to pick.
@trunthepaige - Ha, I’m really not going to argue it – you know me and this whole religion thing. I could care less.
@trunthepaige - In Buddhism, the phenomenon of rebirth is just another part of the illusion to be overcome – no more true than dreams (or the temporal continuum of waking life for that matter). It’s very easy to confuse with the Hindu belief in reincarnation. I used the term “coven of Christians” in a comment recently concerning this very subject, but I was asking a question, not accusing. I hope I’m not that moron you refer to. I have no idea what’s going on with Xanga one way or the other, except that it was at one time operating so fast and loose that it remains the most heavily fined SNS in history in regards to internet safety matters.
@trunthepaige - Of course dear, I got your point. I think what we Christians might consider doing is realize how many of us have been just as critical toward “them”. You know it has to stop somewhere. I believe it should just stop with us Christians. We just need to get busy doing what God has told us to do, and when they see God working in and through us, many of them will be shamed. That’s what the Bible teaches anyway. There will always be cry babies and bullies. We can choose to be neither and do something else.
I’ve always liked this quote: “While it is true the squeaky wheel is the first to get the grease, it’s also the first to be changed.” Don’t know who said it, but it’s not far from what the Bible teaches.
Something to think about.
@dirtbubble - I don’t think it was you, it may have been someone who liked the sound of that comment and got it from you.
As to Buddhists yes they do believe in a higher power and rebirth ending the cynical is rather important to them. But of course a million people have made a million different takes on it.
Buddhist are real life Jedi
Buddhism isn’t cool like Christainity.
Historically, Buddhists haven’t been motivated to faith-inspired violence like good ‘ol Christians.

Heh, somebody sounds annoyed. Which is why this line (“vindictive, bitter”) seems rather ironic in this context.
I’m pagan so I try to be switzerland when it comes to this crap. Everyone should just stop bashing eachother, imo. You don’t gotta like eachother, but all the sniping and stuffs annoys me and I think, probably more people who just don’t say it…whomever its aimed at. Rarely are the generalizations justified. It’s the individuals we should dislike, not the entire faith.
It’s easy to hate on faith if you make alot of assumptions and overlook the unquestionably good parts (I mean, by the standards of MOST people type of goodstuffs). Sure. But that’s a pretty decent sign that a person prolly shouldn’t be doing it.
Absolutely! Then, after we give Buddhism a thorough thrashing, it’s time to move on to Shinto. Those pedophile Jappers have it coming. And after that? Raëlians. Those pricks have had a free ride for too long. I shall not rest until everyone is bashed equally. Then, maybe, we can finally have peace.
Maybe people in the U. S. focus more on criticizing Christianitiy because that’s the religion they see around them, the one they grew up with, the one they know a little bit about, etc. while they don’t know as much about other religions. That’s just a guess, though.
Sorry I can’t join you, I am busy trying to bring down Confucism. How anyone can worship fortune cookies is beyond me. <):)
I could attack atheists. But it’d mainly be a “I follow you guys but you buggers online are shitey asshats.” Yes, for some reason I’d be British.
What the FUCK ? Did you have a bad weekend or something. Love Eric.
