  • Its Not All Bad News. Guns!!!!!

The USA is growing more peaceful by the year. (If you do not live in Detroit)

Gun violence in America is way down. (It seems that guns are running around all by themselves) The truth is that violent crime is dropping and criminals using guns are less common than they once were. The violent crime rate is dropping fast in the USA.

That is what the federal government says. Firearm homicides have declined 39 percent since 1993, according to a Bureau of Justice Statistics on May 7. A separate study by the Pew Research Center put the decline at an even more impressive 49 percent. Nonfatal gun crime also dropped over two decades—by 69 percent.

With gum ownership increasing over than same time. And gun laws being relaxed…

What was the point of new gun control laws again?

The old laws are working and the greater availability of guns is not causing crimes rates to increase, as a matter of fact they are dropping fast. That plus all research ether showing gun laws to be infective or counterproductive …

What is the real reason for the big push for gun control?

  • Because the easiest way to control a large group of people is to promote mis-education and take away people’s ability to defend themselves.

  • @Yorokobi1010 - I have always pushed for irrational fear, but the root of that fear is likely mis-education

  • Deregulate guns. Deregulate drugs. Let people live the way they want to live.

  • We have a motivational poster at the camp… It says, “Gun control means using both hands”. The accompanying picture is a pair of hands steadying a medium caliber revolver.

  • @trunthepaige - very true.

    @Aloysius_son - I like that poster

  • Yeah… the last violent crime that happened here was a death by stabbing, not by guns.

  • I chalk up the gun crisis to mass liberal hallucinate.

As usual, reality is the complete opposite of what liberals would have us believe.

  • happiness is a warm gun, so keep it in your pants!

  • I shot the sheriff.
But I didn’t shoot the deputy.

That would have been double homicide, so I stepped away. The current and old laws are working.

  • @Urban_Peril - @Ghillies_guide -
Wow its a classic rock paradise

  • @SasGal - Stabbings are statisticaly more likely to kill

  • @ImNotUglyIJustNeedLove - hallucination is a perfect word for it here

  • @Aloysius_son - I agree with that poster

  • Well I’ve always said I like that old time rock and roll; the kind of music that just soothes the soul. Don’t try to take me to no disco.

  • @Ghillies_guide - You know they way I feel about Bob Seger

  • I still think you’re wrong. Metallica’s version is excellent, but not better.

  • @Ghillies_guide - I love Bob But give Metallica credit for doing that one song wonderfully

  • Oh I absolutely think it may be the best remake ever in the history of music. They did a superb job.

It’s just that Bob has this gift of making me feel his songs more than hear them, if that makes sense.

I was born fifty years too late, it seems.

  • @trunthepaige – thats cause bad shots happen more often than not.

  • Control. Not of crime, but of the people.

  • @trunthepaige - I am not hallucinating about asian females in 2010 having the lowest death rate compared to other females. ( http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/dvs/deaths_2010_release.pdf )

The old laws are not working in stopping guns crossing the border into Mexico.

A lot of states have revised the rules about selling guns at the gun shows.

Cities have the most gun deaths and most gun control laws should be done in the cities with high murder rate. Chicago is the gun death capital of the United States and yes anyone who advocates less gun control laws there is out of their mind.

I’d bet that I not ugly will not respond to this comment because he does not read my stuff unless directed at him.@firetyger - The devil is in the details of how to control people. May I suggest a few? Never let felons and ex felons be near guns. (very hard to do). Start ID people who buy ammunition? (Also impossible.) In a way not doing anything means no control period.

  • After 1993 also happened to be when Clinton passed the Brady Bill and the Assault Weapons Ban.

  • Political reasons , obvious.

  • They need to ban cars!! Anyone ever been run over by a gun? Eh?

  • Actually … NO!! Trucks! Trucks are the real problem.

  • And … TRAINS!! Derailing all over the place and making explosions and such!!

  • Guns are dangerous. Reject those voices.

  • @coolmonkey - It was repealed, you do not that right? And its not been in effect for about 15 years. Since then more and more states have made carrying guns easier and gun sales have grown

  • @trunthepaige - Aristotle’s Hallucination Equation defines the general theory of liberalism in this space-time continuum.

  • @PPhilip - I guess its good to be an asian female. About stopping guns from crossing the border into Mexico . They also come from Brazil. Our guns are reason that Mexico, a nation with a gun ban is one of many examples that gun laws do not work. Are we also causing the same issue in Jamaica? None of the new gun laws you are talking about could have had anything to do with lowering so called gun crimes. They were not in effect yet. “Chicago is the gun death capital of the United States” and it has a vitual gun ban in efect and that ban has been in effect for more than a generation. The Gun law there is a failure, yet you say do not change it. That is a great example of what I am talking about.

Gun law promoters are not rational. They can not show that any gun law anywhere has ever lowered murder rates. You can not prove that they have lower death rates at all. anywhere ever. But you got to have new gun laws passed even thought they do not work.

“Never let felons and ex felons be near guns. (very hard to do).” and that the law of the land but those guys tend to break laws and passing new ones does nothing. That is an enforcement issue.

“Start ID people who buy ammunition”? That law went into effect in 1969, they even used to register the ammunition purchases. In all the years it was in effect, crime rates went crazy and no one could find a single time it solved a crime. The law was repealed, I think in about 1990.

  • @PPhilip - You do realize that Chicago’s gun violence rate went up when they enacted tighter restrictions, right?  While correlation may not equal causation, anyone calling for gun control laws that do absolutely nothing to stop the criminals are out of their mind.

  • @coolmonkey - Both bills have since been repealed and the rate continues to fall, though.

  • They ought to just nuke the trouble spots and hand out guns in the suburbs with lessons on shooting — with stand your ground laws in all states [sarcasm]

  • To be honest, it feels like this: “GUNS ARE SCAREY, AND I DONT WANT THEEZ GUNS ROUND ME”

These are truly well intentioned people who forget that certain prohibitions hurt civilians more than criminals…

  • my co-worker’s mother makes $75 every hour on the computer. She has been out of a job for 7 months but last month her income was $16451 just working on the computer for a few hours. Go to this web site and read more http://www.rev24.com

  • @PPhilip -  Yeah, how can you prevent guns from flowing to Mexico when you have the Attorney General of the US Dept of Justice directing the smuggling?

  • @grim_truth - @trunthepaige - I don’t know if the Brady Bill ever was fully repealed. It has certainly been chipped away over time, but many states still continue the system anyways, others have toughened them, and others have loosened them. My claim is just as shaky as yours.

  • @coolmonkey - Not really, because crime rates went down after the Supreme Court overturned DC’s restrictive gun laws.  Vermont has the lightest gun control laws in the nation, yet has the lowest murder rate in the nation.

Our argument is not shaky as we back it up with evidence.  You just make absurd claims like “calling for less gun control in high crime areas is out of your mind.”

Huge difference.  See, you can’t really make that statement without showing some sort of evidence that would back up such a claim.  There is plenty of evidence out there that shows lighter gun control laws are related to lower crime rates.  There is little to no evidence to show that tighter gun control leads to less crime.

  • bob dylan has interesting comment on gun question. cf. interview carlos santana + bob dylan on youtube.

  • @coolmonkey - It was for all intents and purposes repealed. All its gun restrictions are gone.

  • @coolmonkey - Shaky every statement I made I can prove. So where do you think Im shaky?

  • @Hunt4Truth - Sarcasm is fun for you. It works better if you have valid point behind it. By the way what is wrong with stand your ground laws? DO you really understand them? They simply mean that you do not need to run away. All rules of self defense still apply. Washington state has always been a stand your ground state and has never had a problem with it

  • I’ll shoot to that! YEEHAW

  • @CaKaLusa - Where I live its more of a Hell Yeah!!! YEEHAW is passe

  • the only gun control law that ever really saw a dramatic drop (over 50%) in crime was enacted in Kennesaw, GA in 1982

  • One of the sites I’ll miss the most.
    Stupid xanga fail. Ugh.

  • @Angry_Infidel - And unlike other changes in crime rates theirs went down while the national stats where still climbing

  • @Ghillies_guide - It should get real quit around here as things come close to the end. Even if they save it. There is no way I would every pay to blog. Too many free sites out there.
